Dad's programs
Support for Fathers has compiled a summary of what’s available for dads around Australia.
We aim to address the common challenge shared by dads and support services in not knowing what’s out there for dads.
If you know about other programs and would like to add to our list, send us an email. The more options dads have the better they can be supported.
NATIONAL
Fathering Across Cultures
The Migration Council of Australia has developed a guide that provides advice and practical tips on how to engage with new and expectant fathers from migrant and refugee backgrounds, and to better support them in understanding their role and expectations of parenting in Australia while maintaining their cultural values.
Dads Group Inc
Dads Group Inc (DGI) is a not-for-profit community organisation committed to connecting new dads, thereby improving men’s health, preventing family violence and reducing isolation and suicide. They partner with sponsors, councils and community organisations, to start and support new Dads Groups in different suburbs, through events that allow new fathers to meet.
Dads Tuning in to Kids
This program focuses on the father-child emotional connection. It teaches fathers the skills in emotion coaching that are taught in Tuning in to Kids®, provides additional content particularly relevant to fathers, and suggests modifications to some program activities and processes.
The Fathering Project
Established for children across Australia, The Fathering Project aims to improve child development outcomes by engaging fathers through prevention and education programs.
